NOKIA STEEL HR+
Nokia’s Digital Health product portfolio (acquired by Withings in 2018) are health-focused lifestyle products with elegant aesthetics. Nokia Steel HR+ is an interpretation of their next generation smartwatch.
Analog elegance meets digital utility
Nokia Steel HR+ unites analog watch expression and emotion with digital flexibility and function. A hybrid smartwatch that seamlessly blends into your life as an extension rather than a distraction.
Market analysis and product placement
To define the product scope I created personas, each with their own unique personality traits, health conditions, metrics and purchasing factors. To further define them I made collages of the clothes they wear, products they use and food they eat, as I believe this expresses one’s ambitions and goals better than anything else.
To better understand and define possible users I created personas derived from current users. Each with their own unique personality traits, health conditions, meaningful metrics and purchasing factors. To further define them I made collages of the clothes they wear, products they use and food they eat, as I believe this truly expresses one’s ambitions and goals in an honest way.
Chatbot, tone of voice and interaction
To define the digital aspect of the product I wrote a short story and illustrated snapshots from a day with the product. I also specified it’s tone of voice for communication and built a framework for the GUI.
To get on-wrist feel, proportions and overall expression right I went back-and-forth between fast side view sketches, CAD and 3D printing to quickly evaluate the design.
Designed from the inside out
I created a tech-package of sensors and components with their real dimensions by analyzing existing smartwatches.
